Our top Beauty Hacks

Save your Mascara Wands

When you have completely finished with you mascara, discard the bottle but keep the wand and clean thoroughly with a brush cleaner. Use for eyebrows or coating your lashes with a moisturizing homemade growth serum (my favorite is good old Vaseline)

Eye Makeup Remover – Cheap and Good for You!

Cleansers and eye makeup removers can get expensive, plus they are loaded with chemicals! The best eye makeup remover is not only effective on removing waterproof eye makeup but is also good for your skin, especially the delicate area around your eyes. My personal favorite is coconut oil (you can read all about it here)  or  Rose-hip Oil; however any oil will work including olive oil, avocado oil, and also petroleum jelly like Vaseline.

sprayHairspray as Brow Gel

I have been doing this ever since I started wearing makeup. Take a mascara wand (see hack number 1) lightly spray with hairspray and then brush your brows into shape. Cheap and easy and your brows are guaranteed to stay in place all day long.

Bicarbonate of Soda – Cheap Teeth Whitener

Just add a pinch of bicarbonate of soda on top of your toothbrush and then add your toothpaste. Do this 3 times a week and you will notice the difference in just 1 week. Great and removing stains and restoring natural whiteness to stained teeth. Note: Bicarbonate of Soda is an abrasive so don’t use too often as it could damage the enamel on your teeth.

Sea Salt Spray

Take a spray bottle and fill it with warm water. Add a teaspoon of sea salt (1 teaspoon to ever 2 cups of water) shake vigorously so the salt dissolves. Spray in hair and lightly tease or scrunch with fingers to get that beachy look

Lipstick as Blush

I do this all the time; in fact I don’t even own a blusher. Take your favorite lipstick and apply a little to the back of your hand, next take a clean finger and transfer to your cheeks, only doing a little at a time. Lipsticks generally tend to be more pigmented than blushers so a little goes a long way. Not only will you have the perfect cheeks to math your lip color but lipsticks have a little glow effect that transfers perfectly to your cheeks. If you want more of matte look then lightly dust translucent powder over the top.

Q Tips as a Lip Exfoliator

For years I used to avoid getting foundation on my lips when I was applying my makeup; however I soon learned that it was far easier to apply if you didn’t have to worry about getting it on your lips. Now after applying foundation and powder I take A Q Tips and rub my lips vigorously with it, and also over my lip line, not only does this work as a great exfoliator it also brings the blood to the surface giving you that lovely bee stung lip.

Of course our favorite beauty hack from the lovely Emma, is how to apply the perfect tight line using the Eye & Mighty Eyelash Curler!
