Firework Night Look
The sparkliest night of the year hits us this weekend - Firework night! 'Oooh's', 'aaah's' and every colour of the rainbow will light the night sky, delighting us and leaving us feeling warm inside! To celebrate, we have created this easy to follow look which will leave you shining brighter than any firework!
After moisturising, we primed the face to give our makeup a good base and to keep it in place all night long. We applied Maybelline BabySkin primer to the face and neck using our fingers.
To follow, we picked up our Bella&Bear Lynx Kabuki brush and some Jelly PongPong All Over Glow gel and we buffed it over the face, to give a beautiful glow to our base make up.
For foundation we opted to use the Makeup Forever HD Foundation and we stippled it over the face and down the neck with our Bella&Bear Lynx Kabbuki brush, buffing it in for a smooth finish.
To create an even complexion we blended some Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer over any dark circles or problem areas with our Bella&Bear Golden Cat small concealer brush. We also applied some concealer just under the cheekbones to bring some extra light and shape to the face.
We wanted to set our makeup for a matte finish so that the sparkles can really take the show, so we picked up our Bella&Bear Tiger powder brush and dusted on some translucent powder - all over the face. We are loving the Essence All About Matt Fixing Powder right now.
To start work on the eyes we primed them with some Benefit Stay Don't Stray, this will give the eye makeup a good base and will really make the shades pop!
We started by picking up our Bella&Bear Bornean Bay Cat brush and a matte bronzer and we just dusted it along the crease of the eye to give us a guideline for the shape of the eye. You can use a windscreen wiper motion to make this neat and even.
Taking our Bella&Bear Leopard Cat Pencil brush and a matte black eyeshadow we are filling in the outer corner of the eye in a V shape. This will give the eye a dramatic and beautiful shape. We blended this out toward the middle of the eye, ready to fade it into the next eyeshadow. Hint; we also lined the lower lashline with this to balance out the eye.
Using our Bella&Bear Iromote flat brush and a golden shimmer red shadow (like the one in the BH Cosmetics Take Me to Brazil Palette) we are filling in the remainder of the lid, pressing the shadow on for maximum intensity and bringing it down to the inner corner. You can then take your Bella&Bear Pampas cat brush and gently blend the 2 shadows together for a seamless finish.
To give the eyes a little more definition and to bring the shadows together nicely, we are going to line the upper lashline. Taking our Bella&Bear Caracal liner brush and some ELF black Cream liner we are drawing a thin line along the lashes, extending it out to a delicate wing.
Lets curl the lashes for some lift! We used our Bella&Bear Eye&Mighty lash curler to gently curl the lashes for amazing length and a beautiful fanned out look. We always use our curler before applying mascara as to not damage or break the lashes. Our curlers do not pinch the skin so don't be scared to get close to the natural lashline with them.
We then applied a coat of our fave mascara - Too Faced Better Than Sex - to our upper and lower lashes. We also added a pair of Ardell Demi-Wispies lashes for some extra oomph, applying them as close to the natural lashline as possible with our Bella&Bear slanted tweezers. Lashes are an optional extra, of course.
To add a little colour to the face, and to build on its shape we are dusting over the high points - the cheekbones, the temples and down the sides of the nose, with a matte bronzer and our Bella&Bear The Leopard brush. You can also contour under the bottom lip too to make them look slightly larger.
Now, lets apply that signature shimmer! Firework night is nothing without a little sparkle so this is a must! Taking a red body glitter we are applying it along the cheekbone and up to the brow on one side and above the brow on the other side of the face.
While the body glitter is still tacky, use your Bella&Bear pointed tweezers to gently, and sporadically, apply some golden stars on top of it. You can of course apply them in more of a pattern if you prefer, but we like the 'random' look! We also applied a star on the inner corner of each eye. Now is a perfect time to find glitter and confetti as the shops are stocking up on them for Christmas - just check in your local craft store to get your hands on some!
As a final shimmer touch to the face we are going to add a golden (or champagne) highlight. We are dusting it over the cheeks, on the tip of the nose, the brow bone and on the cupids bow, using our Bella&Bear Cheetah Duo Fiber Powder brush.
There is no better way to finish this look than to pair it with a metallic cranberry lip! Be sure to line the lips first to get the desired shape and to avoid any bleeding of the lip product. We then used our Bella&Bear Rusty Spotted Cat lip brush to neatly fill the lips in with some MUA Liquid Lipstick in 'Bedazzle'.
To give the look an edgy finished we decided to add some french braids to one side. To do this we created a side part using our Bella&Bear Comb - pull the hair to the opposite side that you want the braids.
We then created 2 french braids on the side of the head, pulling them tight and securing them with a mini hair elastic. To finish we pulled the remaining hair into a high ponytail and secure with a hair band, and a spritz of hair spray!
Pull on your cosiest sweater, doust yourself with some body glitter and shine like a shooting star baby!
