Whether you're getting all glammed up for a mothers day treat - or treating your mum to a Mothers day make over we think you're going to love todays guide. Its got all the tips you need for a flawless makeup application on mature skin! From skin tips to lips you (or your mum) will be looking glamorous in no time!

SKIN

L'Oreal age perfect day cream / Stila Stay all day HD Beauty Balm / It Cosmetics your skin but better CC Cream / Physicians forumla Oganic wear BB Cream / BodyShop Drops of Youth cream / Liz earle Skin repair cream / Estee Lauder Revitalising supreme cream / Tarte timeless smoothing primer / REN Perfect canvas serum primer

Start with your base makeup and follow our tips for your best application yet!

. Always begin with a primer. This will even out the skins surface and will help to keep your base makeup in place and looking flawless. If you prefer not to use foundation you could try a tinted primer to give an ultra-light cover to the skin.

. Avoid heavy and heavily pigmented foundations which can create an unflattering mask to the skin - Instead choose a lightweight BB cream or your favourite foundation mixed with a moisturiser for a more natural look.

.Apply that base with a brush instead rather than a blender sponge as it will give you better coverage and longer lasting result - our Bella&Bear Jaguar angled kabuki brush is perfect for this.

.You may want to use a concealer to help disguise a dark under eye area, be sure to only apply this on the inner part of the under eye to stop it sinking into creases. Again, a brush application is best for this so use our Bella&Bear Ocelot or Golden cat concealer brush.

. Cream blushes are the best option for mature skin.Powder blushes can actually stick to dry skin making your application patchy and muddy. To find the right spot to apply your brush simply smile broadly and work the product onto the apple of the cheek - avoid blending the product up toward the ears and instead focus on keeping it on the apples for a rosy glow!

LIPS

Laura Mercier sheer lip colour / Clinique pop glaze / Chapstick total hydration 3-in-1 / Chanel sheer lipshinenude by nature sheerglow / Rimmel sheer and shine / Estee Lauder colour replenish balm / YSL Tint in Balm / Burts Bees tinted balm

You needn't avpid lipstick just because you're over a certain age, follow our simple steps to get a glam pout!

. Lips can thin out and loose their definition as we age, so bear this in mind when applying your lip products - choose a sheer lip color for the perfect finish, not too harsh but still with a dose of colour!

. Those softer borders on the lips mean that lip product can bleed out and smudge more easily at this stage of life, so be sure to apply your lipstick with a brush rather than straight out of the tube. Our Bella&Bear Rusty Spotted Cat lip brush is ideal for this. Start with the product on the centre of the lip and work it outward.

EYES

Bobbi Brown long-wear cream shadow / Charlotte Tilbury eyes to mesmerise / Tom Ford cream color for eyes / KIKO Lasting creamy shadow / Benefit foolproof brow powder / ABH Brow powder duo / NYX The Skinny mascara / Maybelline Lash sensational / Diorshow mascara

Eye makeup can seem daunting when working with mature skin, but we're here to say that you can rock it as beautifully as you could in your teens!

. Lots of lashes can make your eyes make look more awake and, therefore, youthful. Always use an eyelash curler to give the lashes a hit of natural volume and lift before applying your mascara. Our Bella&Bear Eye and Mighty lash curler is perfect for this and is ergonomically designed to fit all eye shapes without tugging on lashes or pulling them out.

. As for your brows, you'll also need a good brush like our very own Bella&Bear Iberian Lynx brow brush. Brows can often become sparse in later years so its important to work lightly to avoid a cartoon like look. The way to do this is to begin by brushing the hairs downward with a spoolie brush, then draw a light line along the top of the brow with a powder product and then brush the hairs back up again.

. When applying eyeshadow, choose a cream one! Powder shadows can settle into fine lines, only accentuating them, while cream shadows will give a softer finish in a colour that you love! We've shown some of our faves above.

We hope you found these tips handy - we think you'll look amazing this mothers day, and don't forget you can treat your mum to something from our very own store to use long after mothers day! Share a snap of you and your mum with us over on insta for your chance to be featured on our grid!
