Metallic Summer Look
Golden sands and blazing suns. Just two of the things we cant wait to see on our summer holiday - and its just around the corner! To get us feelin' that summer vibe we put together a look inspired by the season, its full of metallics and intense shades to have you glowing brighter than that summer sunset.
We're starting by shaping and filling in the brows. After tweezing out any strays with our Bella&Bear angled Tweezers we are going to brush them into shape using the spoolie end of our Bella&Bear Iberian Lynx Duo brow brush. We're then taking our fave brow product; the Freedom Makeup Brow Pomade - and we're using the angled brush end of the Iberian Lynx to fill in and extend the brows, enhancing the arch and lengthening the tail. Perfect.
To define the brows further and make them even more sharp we are going to 'carve' them. This is a technique where a concealer or a light powder is used to outline the brow hairs making them super neat and groomed looking. We used some Essence Stay All Day concealer and our Golden Cat Small Concealer brush to blend the product into the skin.
Next, after applying some eye shadow primer (we used Benefit's Stay Dont Stray) right over the lid we are going in with a matte transition shade, and using our Bella&Bear Jaguarundy brush to work it right into the crease with a windscreen wiper motion.
Then we're taking our Bella&Bear Bornean Bay Cat brush and a metallic cranberry shade of eye shadow and we're placing it over the entire lid. We used the MakeUp Academy 6 shade palette in Rusted Wonders for this. Don't forget to dust off any fallout as you don't want smudges of colour around the eyes!
Afterwards, we are using our Bella&Bear Marbled Cat brush and a metallic golden shadow (from the same palette) and we're applying it to the crease of the eye and the outer V. You can also go back in with the Jaguarundy brush and blend everything together.
Now let's work on getting that fresh summer skin. After working some KIKO Fluid Highlighter over the face and neck with our hands we are going to use our Bella&Bear Jaguar Kabuki brush and buff some Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation all over the face. This is a full coverage foundation and gives off a gorgeous flawless look which is great for not so sunny summer days, but if you are in the sun or on holiday we recommend using a lighter coverage foundation as to not swamp the skin causing breakouts.
Next we are using that same concealer to disguise dark circles and blemishes and we are blending it in with our Bella&Bear Ocelot large concealer brush.
Now, to keep that concealer in place we are gently going to dust over it with a translucent powder. We are using the Essence All About Matte powder and our Bella&Bear Leopard brush to apply it. If you prefer a matte look then you can go ahead and do this all over the face, but as we wanted a more dewy look we are only topping our concealer with it.
Lets finish those eyes! Taking our Bella&Bear caracal liner brush we are adding a delicate wing to the upper lash line, extending it out as much as you prefer. We used the ABH gel liner for this look.
As we want the look to be all about those colours we have chosen not to use falsies, instead we have curled the lashes with our Bella&Bear Eye and Mighty curlers for some lift, then applied a couple of coats of the Essence Lash extension mascara.
Then, taking our Bella&Bear Fishing Cat brush and that same metallic red shade we are applying it to the lower lash line, blending outward with our liner wing.
And, to add some dazzling summer shine, we are going in with a highlighting shade. Taking our Bella&Bear Leopard Cat pencil brush and a white pearl shadow, we are going to gently dust the inner corner of the eye - we used the same eye shadow palette for this.
Let's add a little colour to the face with some subtle bronzer. Using our new Bella&Bear Bobcat brush we are taking some shimmer powder from the ELF Studio Bronzer quad and we are gently dusting the area below the cheekbones and also the temples.
We also want to add some highlight for that gorgeous summer glow so we are going in with our Bella&Bear cheetah Duo Fiber Powder Brush and some IHeartMakeup Blushing Hearts in 'Hot Summer of Love' and we are generously applying it to the cheekbones, the centre of the nose, the cupids bow and the brow bone.
Let's pull this look together with a customised statement pout. You may prefer to keep the lips nude, which is good too, but we are going in with some NYX Soft Matte Lip Creme in Copenhagen and we're applying it to the lips with our Bella&Bear Rusty Spotted Cat Lip Brush for a neat and precise application.
Then, lets really take it up a notch by applying some gold shadow to the centre and blending it outward for a spotlight effect. We used our Bella&Bear Marbled Cat brush to do this, lightly dabbing the shadow to the middle of the lip and gently pulling it outward for a softer finish. Gorgeous!
Finish by spritzing with a setting spray, letting your hair down and adding some gold jewellery. You are a bronzed, metallic goddess ready to party in that summer sun!
