Mermaid series; Mer-mazing makeup look
You already know whats about to go down! Glitter, sparkles, shells and shine! The mermaid craze is here to stay and today we're showing you how to get this mer-mazing makeup look, just perfect for festivals .. or when you wanna look a little extra at the beach!
Lets first do our brows! We're brushing through them to begin with, using the spoolie end of our Bella&Bear Iberian Lynx brow brush. This will lightly shape the brows.
Then, using the brush end we are working a warm pink shadow through the sparser areas of the brows and defining the shape a little. Our mermaid makeup is going to be pink based but if you are choosing a different tone then fill in your brows accordingly! We use the BH Cosmetics Eyes on the 60s palette here.
Now, picking up our Bella&Bear Golden cat small concealer brush and some Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer we are outlining the brows and pulling the product outward. This will 'carve out' the brows and give them a stronger finish.
We're starting on the eyes now, smoothing some Kryolan eyeshadow primer over the lid and up to the brow bone with our ring finger to lock our shadows in place and make them extra vibrant.
Then, we're using our Bella&Bear Sand cat brush to work a matte ivory shadow over the lid and - again - up to that brow bone
Picking up our Bella&Bear Bornean Bay cat brush now and we're using it to work a warm pink shadow - we used the BH Cosmetics Eyes on the 60's palette again - and we are working it along the crease of the eye in a windscreen wiper motion for an even application.
We use our Bella&Bear Golden cat brush and the same UD concealer again now and we are working it onto the lid into a dome shape.
To top that concealer we are now using a shimmer peach shadow - we love the 'Sun' and 'Jupiter' shadows from the BH Cosmetics Galaxy Chic palette , and we are working them onto the lid with our Bella&Bear Jaguarundy Cat brush. So glowy!
Next, we are taking our Bella&Bear Serval angled liner brush and some Essence cushion liner and we are creating a fine wing along the top lash line to define the eye.
Let's work on those lashes now. We start by curling them using our famous Bella&Bear Eye and Mighty lash curlers for lift.
Then, we lock that curl in with a coat of the Bodyshop Happy Go Lash mascara.
To take it up a level we are adding falsies. We use our Bella&Bear angled tweezers to place some Ardell Demi Wispies falsies as close to the natural lash line as possible for an undetectable finish.
Its time to work on that radiant skin! Of course we first need a good primer to give our makeup a smooth and even base so we use our fingers to work some Porefessional Pearl by Benefit all over the face.
Next, we are using our Bella&Bear Jaguar angled kabuki to apply a full coverage foundation to the ski. We use the Estee Lader Double wear foundation mixed in with a little L'Oreal Infalliable lumizer, working in outward and downward strokes for a streak free finish.
We also want to go in with a little concealer to disguise any problem areas and to bring some light to the skin. So, using our Bella&Bear Ocelot large concealer brush and some more UD Naked skin concealer we work it over dark circles and blemishes, blending into our foundation with outward strokes.
Let's set that now. Although we want a dewy and radiant skin it is important to set our concealer to prevent it from sliding around the face. So, taking our Bella&Bear Leopard face brush and some Essensce All About Matte pressed powder, we press it over our concealer.
To lock that all in place we are spritzing the face with a generous amount of the Revolution Oil control fixing mist.
Lets add a little shape to the face using bronzer now. We use some Hoola bronzer by benefit and our Bella&Bear Bobcat brush to gently dust the hollows of the cheeks, the temples, the hairline and the jawline.
Now, lets get mystical! Taking a mesh wig cap we place it over our head and pull it over the face to just below the nose. This will be the base for our mermaid scales!
As mentioned, we are opting for a pink mermaid theme, so we will be using pink shadows here but, again, you can adjust your choices according to your look. So, taking our Bella&Bear Margay Cat brush and a dark pink shadow we are pressing it around the hairline over the netted wig cap, building up the colour until you like the result.
Keeping the wig cap in place we are next using our Bella&Bear Tiger brush and a candy pink shadow we are dusting directly below our darker pink shadow, again, pressing through the net.
Finally, using our Bella&Bear Jaguarundy Cat brush and a barely-there pink shadow we are applying it directly below the previous shadow.
We repeat these steps on the sides of the face and the cheekbones but instead of working the gradient downward we work it inward from the side of the face.
You can then carefully slip the net off and admire your new scales! We are going to add glitter now (of course!). Taking some pink and silver body glitters we are pressing them onto random areas of the face for a shimmer effect.
Then, we are taking some flatback pearls and we are placing them over the cheeks and forehead too. We pop them in place using our Bella&Bear Pointed tweezers and we adhere them, again, with eyelash glue!
Its time to fill in our lips. We want to keep with our colour scheme, so after outlining them with some Essence Soft Berry liner, we are painting them with some Limecrime Vevleetine in 'Riot' on the edges and Limecrime Velvetine in 'Prairie' on the centre using our Bella&Bear Rusty Spotted Cat lip brush.
There's never enough shimmer so we're going to go in with a highlight now! Taking our Bella&Bear Cheetah Duo Fiber powder bush and some IHeartRevolution Blushing Hearts in Iced Hearts we are dusting the high points of the face.
We're not stopping there! We want our locks to match our looks, so we're going to use a wig! But first we have to prep our natural hair. We start by brushing through using our Bella&Bear Brush on You detangler to make it smooth and knot-free.
Then, we braid each side of the hair and pin it to the back of the head nice and flat,
Next, we are popping on our favourite silver wig, keeping it to one side and pushing it around to add some volume!
