The Truth about sleeping with your makeup on
We've all heard it before; 'You should never sleep with your make up on', but do you actually know why people say this? Do you know the truths about sleeping in makeup? Today we are going to explore what really happens when you sleep with your makeup on...
IT WILL BUILD UP ON YOUR PILLOW.
This is one of the littler known facts of sleeping in your makeup. The more regularly you choose to go to bed without removing makeup, the more likely it is to build up on your pillow, leaving it full of oils, chemicals and powders, which will be disastrious for your skin. Over time, having these things on your pillow will equal, greasy, dull skin and even greasy hair. Ideally, you should change your pillowcase weekly to avoid a build up of any kind.
IT WILL CLOG YOUR PORES AND GIVE YOU A DULL COMPLEXION.
Many women enjoy applying and wearing makeup, and that's great but remember, your face needs to breathe! Nighttime is a time when you should be allowing your skin to refresh itself and glow. Not removing your makeup for just one night won’t cause your skin to immediately breakout and be dull, but its a bad habit to get into and if this habit continues it could attract acne-causing bacteria to your skin and pores!
IT COULD CAUSE EYE IRRITATIONS.
Sleeping with your mascara or eyeliner on can cause it to dry out and flake into your eyes, which can easily lead to severe irritation. Eye infections are uncomfortable and avoidable. You can use a number of products to easily and quickly remove your eye makeup (including new micellar water), try keeping some in your nightstand so you always have it to hand.
IT CAUSES PREMATURE AGEING - AND WRINKES!
Throughout an average day, your face accumulates a lot of stress from numerous sources; the environments, products used on it and chemicals around it (think cigarette smoke and the like). So, when you choose to sleep in your makeup, your skin is not given the chance to recover and refresh itself from these stresses. This can easily lead to premature ageing, fine lines and, eventually, deep wrinkles. Make sure to wash your face; it's quick, painless and simple - and it'll keep your skin looking young for longer!
YOU'LL HAVE MORE WORK FOR YOURSELF IN THE MORNING.
So, you decided to skip your cleansing and makeup removal last night? Now you have to do it this morning, meaning an earlier start, more work for yourself and less time for breakfast. By taking off your makeup at night, you’re saving your skin and saving time in your morning routine! Your choice.
